A: More than 70 sculptures will be on view during the two-day event
We don’t, it’s all in Mother Nature’s hands. Once ice is out, carved and ready to go . . . that’s it. It stays up till it melts. If it is cold, they are up for days . . . even weeks. If we get an unseasonal heat wave, they melt.
A: Nope, this is a rain, sleet, snow, heat wave event. Our ice carvers do events all over Pennsylvania, they are booked every weekend October to March, Presidents Day weekend is our weekend, it happens then, no matter what.
Fire & Ice covers most of downtown Lititz and if you attend Saturday, the Carnival/Chili/Vendor Fair is just west of downtown through the Lititz Springs Park. Lots of ground to cover, it might be worth it if your children are very little, but we would suggest that “double” strollers may not be wise.
It is a free outdoor event on the streets, so no restrictions like any other day in downtown Lititz, but it is probably better for your furry friends to stay home. This is not really a pet friendly event due to the large crowds of people, weather and the potential for pets to be frightened by noise from the fire shows and ice carvings. Your furry friend will be much safer and happier staying home.
Break it down by days:
FRIDAY 5.p.m. to 9.p.m. – watch the pyrotechnic show by Stray Production Services, view live ice carvings around town, sit on a throne of ice or ride a giant ice dragon. Enjoy a meal at one of our local restaurants or pubs, but also one of the many food truck vendors set up on Broad or the 100 block of East Main Street.
Come spend the evening and enjoy historic downtown Lititz and shop local retailers!
SATURDAY – Walk around and check out all the sculptures around town, catch the carving action between 9am and 12pm. Dine at a food truck or local restaurant, listen to live music and kids entertainment 11 am – 7 pm.
Head over to Warwick High School, 301 W. Orange Street for the Chili Cook-off, Kids Carnival, and Vendor Fair. Event will run 11am to 3pm and you can try chili from 20 different chefs. The event raises money for the local charities participating in the chili cook-off.
$10 adult admission and $5 for children under 12, if they want to sample chili.
